Question of survival

'Feeling the squeeze' (Special Report, 29 July) raised a number of issues for me. The article does imply that keeping the Early Years Partnerships as a requirement with clearly defined targets is probably a better bet than leaving it up to the whim of local authorities - particularly as many partnerships have just now got to the stage where they have systems in place to collect information which they can use to plan a balance of provision in all areas, rather than ending up with a situation where some services become financially non-viable.
