In a pioneer's steps

I'd like to congratulate Nursery World on the Pioneers series. In these days of exciting change, it is good to remember that we are far from being the first to face new challenges. When things are hard we should remember that our forebears had difficult lives in many ways too. We were thrilled to read the article about Susan Isaacs ('Enquiring minds', 20 January), as a nursery school started by Dr Isaacs in 1928 with funding from an American benefactor called Natalie Davies, whose son was one of our first pupils.
