A not-for-profit nursery school in Cambridge run by parents is losing thousands of pounds a year because of the new rules for nursery education funding. Ace Nursery School in the centre of the city employs highly qualified staff and is run as a parent-co-operative. Headteaacher Paula Watson told Nursery World that its expected loss this year was £5,000. The nursery school receives £7.95 per two-and-a-half-hour session for the free entitlement, but the actual cost of the place is £8.50.
