The Essence of Play

The Essence of Play - A practice companion for professionals working with children and young people:

Rather than a how-to guide to play, the authors consider play from a child's perspective and evaluate it as a natural resource through which children meet physical, intellectual and emotional challenges.

To provide an overarching concept for play, wider issues such as cross-cultural and gender patterns are examined, along with the benefits of using play for assessment and other professional practice issues.
