The big picture: Baby room goes black and white

06 September 2011, 12:00am

Sunshine Day Nursery in Preston, Lancashire, has transformed its multi-coloured baby room with a black, white and red make-over.

The big picture: Baby room goes black and white

The room's new colour scheme is based upon recent research that babies up until six months of age find it easier to focus on black and white tones and graphics.

To transform the brightly coloured 'physical area' within the room, staff covered equipment in black and white vinyl and added resources.

Nursery manager Jade Ryding said, 'We have had positive feedback from our parents, and our new non-mobile babies have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the black and white environment.'
