Free milk to stay

11 August 2010, 12:00am

The provision of free milk for the under-fives has been saved after David Cameron overturned a proposal to scrap it.

The coalition Government said the Nursery Milk scheme will not be axed, after a letter from health minister Anne Milton outlining the proposals was leaked to the media. Ms Milton's note of 3 August to Scottish Public Health Minister Shona Robison said the scheme would cost £50m this year and did not provide value for money.
