Julie Cowell, who is a senior room supervisor at Asquith's Trafalgar Nursery in Richmond, joined with an NNEB in 2004.
She progressed to an NVQ level 4 and is now doing a foundation degree through the Open University. 'Asquith gave me the opportunity to do the level 4 in-house and I am now hoping that eventually I can go on to do a full degree and maybe a PGCE,' she says.
