Level 6...what can I do?
Level 6...what can I do?

Hey there!
I'm just finishing my HND Advanced practice in working with children and families and decided to do a one year top up to make it into BA Hons Early childhood studies. I did GCSE's and A Levels to get on the course in the first place and have always been unsure what I wanted to do. I love working with children especially aged 3-5yrs. I've had two years experience in a primary school (foundation stage), a short time working with age 0-3yrs and a short time working with 6-8yrs. Once I've completed my degree I don't know whether to go onto teaching or something else?! Please help? I just want to know what options are available to me as I don't really know?
Kind regards
Emma

if you did'nt want to do your PGCE you could do your early years professional status.

Hi Emma,
If you wanted to become an early years teacher (teaching children aged 3 to 5) then you would need to do an early years PGCE with qualified teacher status - Leeds Met, Scarborough (and probably some others to- have a look) do an specialist advanced early years course. There are set pay and conditions for teachers - start at about £20,100.
You could do the Early Years Professional Status which is to lead practice with 0 to 5 years - as yet there are no set pay scales for this.
