Hi!
This is how I'd do it...
I'd have two files - 1 for adult initiated activities and 1 for routine activities.
Think of some activities that you would like to do with your children in the group that you think they would be interested in.
Refer to the booklet pages 6 and 7 and look at the titles.
Can you link any of the activities you're doing to the titles?
If you can - note them next to your list of activities.
You can then look up the cards that relate to that title for more information.
Then go to the cards and check the general developmental stages of the children and note adults role, diverse needs and possible challenges etc.
The cards also give clues as to what to observe and make a note of.
If you copy the list on pages 6 and 7 so that you can date the titles you've covered you'll be able to make sure that you cover all the titles evenly so that your curriculum is balanced. For ones that you don't seem to cover, look at the cards - they give ideas of actvities on them.
You can also keep a similar record of the titles in a file for each child and tick off when you've observed that particular title with them. Keep the observations in the child's file so you have a record of the activity from the child's point of view and you can evaluate them and use them for your next lot of planning and show parents.
For main routine activities - meal times, changing times etc. Look at the titles and create a web of all the things children can gain from those activities.Again refer to the cards to help you observe and evaluate them - are your mealtimes really helping with a sense of belonging by making feeding personal? - if so how? Write in down in the main 'activities' file to show Mr/s OFSTED.
Go through them slowly and thoroughly. Plan a schedule of when you're going to review your routine activities over a set period of time. Review them, evaluate them, improve them and date when you've finished. Then you'll know when they're next up for review again next time and be able to keep things fresh and interesting for the children.
Hope this helps!
