Who is the examination board, is it CACHE or Edexcel or someone else?

What level is the course at and what topics are covered?

Hi there,

I completed my PDA last year, and found it really enjoyable. Enjoyed it so much i am now doing a BA, but the PDA was a lot easier!! Was there anything specific you wanted to know about it?

Yes, I guess I would like to know as much as you can tell me really.

What level is the course at level 3, level 4, level 5?
How long does the course take to complete?
Who is the examination board?
Who is the course aimed at and what subjects does the course cover?
At which college did you study the course, and would you recomend the college?
Is there a website where I can find out more information about the course?

Sorry I have so many questions but I hadn't really heard much about this course before, and would like to look at all the options before deciding which addtional study course I would like to do, and which is best suited to my needs.

Hi there hatthar,

PDA is next level up from the HNC and is considered as a management qualification (equivalent to SVQ4). it took me just under a year to complete, and i attended 4 study days during that time. I had 5 modules to complete (promotion of language and literacy,quality issues, European perspectives, effective leadership and a professional study), but i think it has now changed to 8 modules which are supposed to take a year and a half to complete. SQA is the examination board, and i did it through James Watt College, Greenock who were really good. Do a search on the internet for PDA in Childcare adn education and see what it comes up with, or go onto the James Watt website. What area of Scotland are you from? I'm in Argyll and Bute region!
