By the way 'Sexy gal' no one listened, because it wasn't true and lets not pretend that you were the ultimate child care provider. Did you not go to sleep when you were supposed to be looking after peoples children?
I hope that wherever you are at now that they check your references.
I hope for the children in your care, that you develop a heart and really will try to look after those children to the best of your ability.

Deliver and Sexy Gal, Does this really need to turn into something personal? Leapfrog have had a lot of bad press on this site over the last few months and whilst I am sure some of it is true I am also sure that alot of it is exagerrated. Whatever the story I am sure there doesn't need to be a public assassination of people on this site!!!

you are right leapfrog isnt all that bad and i happen to work within the nursery where alot of things went wrong and were addressed on this site. i love my job although i have my grievences with the company, they have been good to me for example taking me on as a student and employing me, then promoting me within a short period. your job is what you and the others around you make it. at the end of the day we should all be going to work to look after and provide a good environment for children to develop in. lets focus on the positive things we do have. not the things we dont and cant have.

You obviously have issues 'Sexy Gal', the truth hurts.
I agree with the above comments the company does have it's faults but still does offer amazing child care and I can say that most of us enjoy our jobs and love working with children.
'Janny' I just don't like people who lie and spoil and environment for everyone else. I have been at Smithfield for years and have taken the rough with the smoothe during this time but have found my jo to be rewarding. Why should one person with issues spoil that for everyone and try and damage a good and positive reputation?

On the subject of hours it is hard sometimes to do 10hr shifts but a 3 day w/e makes up for it.

The only compaint I have is that we are expected to do 4 * 10hr days(sometimes 5 *10hr) yet the managers job share part-time 3 days and 2 days and they only do 8hrs a day never see them doing extra or covering when we are short staffed, no we are left over ratio.

Msg for newsetting, you moan about the 10hrs shifts but you forget to mention that the 30 minutes you do have is paid for, where as if you were working for a decent employers as you call it would not. I have a vast experience in varied roles and think you are lucky to have an option of working 10hrs shift in order to get a day of. The management however dont get that option. And if you think about it you would have to work 8 hours shift mon - fri in an office and would not be able to swop shifts or have a additional day off here and there. And not to forget the reward day you received as well. I guess you forget these minor details, and also you should consider yourself lucky you still have a job. One of the nursery shutting down have and excellent fte rate that other and staff are brillaint, dont moan as much as some of the girls do on this website. If this does'nt change your mind, i guess your in the wrong career. And no i am not a memeer of staff from any of the nurseries shutting. Am however a dedicated member of staff who works with an excellent team and just cant stand all this two faced comments, like they say dont bite the hand that feeds you.

khanegura, was this message meant for me? I think you may need to re-read my post. I dont work for Leapfrog, simply commenting that the lunchbreak entitlement of half an hour is ten minutes more than the statutory minimum. I wasnt moaning about any hours as I dont work for Leapfrog. I run my own nurseries and am lucky to do a 70 hour week-ten hours a day seems fabulous to me! Think you have misread something somewhere to post me this message! : )

I used to work for Leapfrog and I think there are some things that you got very wrong. In my nursery we did not have "an option" to work 10 hrs/day in order to get a day off. For most of us (except for a few pets) it was not an option, it was a MUST and believe me, when you work 10 hrs/day for four days you do not really enjoy that day off (usually not a day of your convernience) as you were very tired to do anything but resting. And as for managers not having that "option"... my managers always did the shifts that suited their hairdresser's, doctor's, shopping appointments and if not, they had no problem in leaving the nursery during working hours. Finally, I could mention minor details as Managers having duvet days, treating the only few clever and professional staff like rubbish and giving spoilt and less qualified staff the power to decide over their Senior NN's.

Hi guys!

IF we do a 10hr shift at my nursery we get one 10 min break at snack time, half hour lunch and then a 10min break at tea time.

Shouldnt it be fair and that be all the nurseries?

According to my manager, 106Chick, having a total of 50 minutes for a 10 hour day is to the managers desecration. We are only entitled to 30 minutes, so in other words, if you are particularly busy or short staffed they could easily say that they are cutting breaks short by 20 minutes

In the average work setting you work 5 days a week 9-5 or 9-6. I am an ex employee of leapfrog and have taken the ten hour rota into my new setting. Our staff enjoy a day off in the week. We couldnt possibly run a shift pattern of 9-5 bearing in mind we are open 7-7. I think there are times when people are very quick to whine about their jobs. Ive always thought that if you are unhappy doing these hours then you should find a new place of work where you will be happier. No one is holding you there. I understand the hours are long but with an hours lunch and coffee breaks you shouldnt be running your energy levels down.

When i was working at leapfrog i must agree that doing 10 hours with only 40minute lunch was disgusting. When doing half days i found the occupancy levels didnt go down so i couldnt leave due to ratio. I also found that overtime wasnt paid and we had to wait till christmas. My advice would be to search for a job where there is better support from managers. Leaving leapfrog was the best career move for me, but i took away the negatives and used this knowledge as positives in my new setting.

Hello Steph, I too believe that issues should be discussed in person and I am only here defending a company and a nursery that I believe and have great faith in. Sexygyal has deceiced to use this as her stage. I am sure that you too would be upset. We never knew that she was this type of girl and disgusted at her approach to child care. How would you feel if you learnt that she did such disgsuting things in her previous employment before she came to Leapfrog. It upsets me that she is so decitful. That is my only concern.

I hear what you are saying deliver, it is important to defend your workplace and you are obviously and quite rightly proud of where you work, but this website is not the place for personal disscussion, however bad the situation is. Ofsted has just as much acess to this site as everyone and these comments could lead to action being taken. Just a friendly warning!
