Have a look at www.qed.uk.com for a manual that was developed in a nursery and then trialled all round the country - at £15 including postage

Hi debs21uk,
Birth to three matters is a framework to support children in their earliest years. It is made up of four aspects, i.e. A strong Child, and each aspect has four components, i.e. Me, Myself and I.
Within the pack you will receive an introductory booklet, a poster, a CD rom, a video/DVD and the sixteen component cards. The cards focus on the main features of the component, i.e. Realisation of own individuality. It provides developmental information, things to be aware of, examples of what adults might do and suggestions for activities. It also provides ideas for planning, meeting diverse needs, challenges and dilemas and gives a case study.
Altogether, the component cards are a wealth of information, that you can explore further by using the CD rom and the video/DVD.
You can get a copy of Birth to three matters from DfES publications on 0845 460 9666.

It has been great to read many peoples experiences about b23 planning, I too have just completed the training but am still a bit baffled, it has helped to read what other people are doing, I need to come away from long and medium term planning and I think this is why I am finding it hard to start. I would love to hear more about peoples ideas with implementing b23 with the under 2's and how you set out your obs/planning sheets.

I have looked at the EYFS as part of my EYPS and it looks like it is going to be much easier in terms of helping children make the transiton for birth to three to foundation stage. The stepping stones/early earning goals are staying the same and it is all broken down by age in months which can get confussing

If you look at a site called Foundation Stage Forums - lots of good planning examples there
