Nursery Closing Down

Nursery Closing Down

Dear Readers,

A nursery in Liverpool Pagoda Chinese Community Centre  has been operating for over 25 years. They have an upmost reputation in the city centre, and only one that provides bi-lingual learning. It was City Council runned and this year they decided to close it down as due to cutting budget, as for management over spending on the Capital of Culture programme .

Parents and staff was not informed on the matter and found out with the announcement on the local newspaper in March. It was a disgrace on how they executed the closure. We have campaigned since March but the inevitable closure in end of July is coming close. I am posting the matter seeking help. Several parents have got together hoping to take over the nursery as a community trust, but Council is not giving us extra time to transition over. We will need to employ staff and re-register the nursery. We appreciate readers giving us some help and see what the Nursery World forum can do.

Hi Jonathon,

I work on the news desk here at Nursery World and I would really like to speak with you to find out more about what's happening at the nursery with a view to writing a story for the magazine. Please could you email me at melanie.defries@haymarket.com?

Hope to hear from you soon.
