my friend and i are looking to start a nursery up too, but are having alot of trouble finding the approriate premises, and although do not have alot of finance behind us we have been working very hard the last 6 months making sure we have every single detail we need to open, my advice is take your time, look into everything, and make sure you you dont leave any stone unturned, there is alot of info to grasp and disicsions to consider, but having the right frame of mind and people/family to support you, you shouldnt have any problems. we are only NNEB qualified, but with 9 years experience behind us finds it helpful and easier to cope and organise ourselves.

Thanks for your comments. What I really want to do is aim at young children - 0 to 3 years as there is a real gap in my area for that age. I wish that I too had someone who would like to join me as it just seems so complicated and financially impossible.

Hi Donna,

I just put in an offer for a nursery yesterday and luckily it was accepted. I have financed mine by taking a further advance on my mortgage. If it is over £25K you don't have to tell what you are using the money for, although they do ask.

It is a scary prospect, and there seems to be a lot of stuff you have to do with regard to Ofsted. Until you do find the premises I would suggest you read as much as you can and get all your information, application packs ready. Good Luck

HI,
We are currently looking at the Birth to three framework from Sure Start - why not have a look at it yourself? its not nearly as complicated as the writer's have tried to make it look.
