If the parent is so concerned with her child being able to read and write, why doesn't she not teach them at home, she is the techer after all!! Don't listen to her about having the degree as these days many early years practitioners have degrees also and I feel that even though I am "just a nursery nurse" my knowledge of childcare and education can often far outweigh the knowledge that teachers, which is very often just attaining targets!!
