I know as  a setting as a whole has got to have the same system for planning to which ofsted will look at, but am I allowed to do extra planning in a different way alongside the setting sheet, as i dont feel that sheet alone meets the needs of my key children as it is limited on space to write observaitons and next steps often only space for one ob from each area of birth to three and one or two next steps these dont include adult role experiences etc. Help apreciated thanks. x

yeah it's okay to do extra planning if you feel you need to although you are creating extra paperwork for yourself. why not try changing your sheets as by the sounds of it you are working to the birth to three and from september you need to be planning from the new EYFS. hope that helps.

Each of my staff have a planning sheet for a half term, that relates to their key children that is informed from their previous obs. This runs alongside our normal planning that we do as a team.
