by: jade - 04-03-08 19:16

hi,

i am having few issues with staff regarding how often nappies should be changed. i think every 2 to 2 and half hours.

what sort of times does anyone else follow, does anyone know if the time is in the day care standards.

thanks

Hi jade

As far as i remember you would always change a nappy as soon as possible if they have passed stools, as the combination of faeces and urine can lead to nappy rash.

Generally a nappy should be checked every two hours

Some change nappies before or after a feed and then there are some nurseries that agree to a minimum change policy with parents. This means that the nursery would not change the child more frequently than if she/he was at home.

In my setting, our nappies are checked by the key worker staff. You get to understand when the child will be wet, when they will soil and when they will need changing. (Although this obviously doesnt always go to plan) but you get an idea.

The times of change vary throughout the day, and is soley depedent on a as and when process.
