hiya i have been room supervisor of pre-school for 6 years and i have come across this a lot of times now i have a meeting with the parents and and i explain to them that letter recogination is for their age group and this is more important than writing as they cannot write until they are confident and recognise letters. i also explain that if parents keep stessing their children out about letters and writing they are putting their children under intense pressure and they are missing out on the other skills that the children are learning.
i also show them the foundation framework and once they go htrough the books i find that they back off a bit and realise that the children are actually learning skills towards writting.
This works a treat!!!!!
