Hi Stephen
fear not, you are not alone. My son, although a little older than yourself, (28) is embarking on an EYPS corse with Winchester Uni. He tried the Primary teacher route but felt dissatisfied with the educational system as too heavy on rote and not enough creativity.
After reflection and a trial at a playschool embraced the work with much joy. He is the only male in a class of 45 students. He is aware of the pay/conditions but puts job satisfaction above that. It will be tough as he has a mortgage to pay throughout.
How are you doing in your job?
Sue
