Just wondering has anyone done the Forest School Training and did they find it relevant to early years as it is advertised for use in early years settings.

Hi,
I havent done the training but we did forest schools at my last setting & my manger did the training. If you have somewhere that you can do forest schools then you should def do it.
Our pre-schoolers use to go once a week & they LOVE it! If they didnt go for any reason they moaned! lol The course gives you loads of ideas for outdoor play too.
Good luck if you decide to do it, I'm sure you'll love it!

Hi Rosie
I am interested in doing this as well - in google type in forestschool Education or foresteducation - training providers will come up. Also if you go on teachers.tv in the Early Years section you will see some footage on what they provide.
Good luck

Hi Rosie and Millie
I can't recommend doing forest school training highly enough. It will not only allow you to run forest school sessions for your setting but also you will feel more confident about allowing children to learn about managing their own risks within the nursery and outside
Depending on where you are there are trainers around the country. If you are in the Southwest contact me through the website www.woodviewplymouth.org.uk or Duchy College (Early years department) in Cornwall.

Hi Stormkettle
I have looked through the website and it looks fantastic and really interesting. Do you have anything nearer Surrey????

don't you fancy coming down to plymouth or cornwall?
You will need to see who is doing training near you. Go onto www.forestschool.com
best of luck

Hi stormkettle
Hard to do when you have a family and I teach in the evenings, so timing is really tight. - But I will look out for training etc., Thanks for your help though.
