Hi I have just been made the equal opportunties officer at work and i'm wondering what I have to do as my manager is not really that helpful, Is there any books or leaflets out there that would be useful? Thanks x x

I would speak with your local LEA as there should be a training course you can go on which will point you in the right direction

The Chartered Management Institute Produced a good leaflet last year on the employers responsibilities. You can download it from http://www.managers.org.uk/client_files/Diversity%20Final1.pdf
You should also look in the EYFS Statutory Framework and Practice Guidance Documents as both include Equal Opportunities.
The Welfare Requirements in the Statutory Framework also tell you what your setting needs to do to meet the requirements of current legisaltion ... a VERY USEFUL document. You can download the EYFS documents from http://www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/eyfs/site/index.htm
Hope this helps.
