I am thinking of buying a vehicle to transport children before and after school and want to know more about the regulations. Do you have to keep within the set ratio's, what type of insurance will i need, what age child can sit in the front of a vehicle and what car seats are best for this purpose. Also what vehicle would be best to cater for this service.

Thanks
Nicola

This really depends on how long you are keeping children before the school drop off and how long after and whether you are doing this as a childminder or part of wrap around care from another setting. There is a minimum 2 hour ruling, over 2 hours comes over the guidelines of ofsted. You would need pulic liablity insurance and class 1 business use.

Ooops clicked enter before i had finished. Vehicle depends on how many you want to transport, car seats/boosters to be used with restraints if they are available in the car - but nowadays most vehicles are fitted with seatbelts.
