HI
I work in Residential Child Care at the minute and have done for the last 12 years.
Did you want to get into field social work or residetnial Work?
Let me know what you would like to know specifically and I'll try to help.

Hi, i would like to go into social work. What i would like to know is what is expected from you in this job, what sort of things you will be involved with.
I like the idea of social work, although i am not 100% on all the things i would be involved with. I thought it was best that i find out in dept about this career before i apply to do a social work MA.

There are different teams which you could work in e.g fostering and adoption, looked after children. The role as far as I am aware can involve working with children and their families, removing children from their families in extreme cases, carrying out assessments and preparing court reports etc. there are so many aspects that there are too many to list.
I have never done a Social Work degree and have never worked in field social work so can't really give you any details.
There is a weekly publication called community care which covers the social care sector and may give you more of an insight about the social work profession.
If you go on their website you can subscribe on line (I think it's free).
Why not contact your local social services department and see if you can talk to one of their Social Workers?
