My best advice to you would be to get in with a large organisation who can offer a focused career path, with your qualification you should be able to go for a more senior position alot quicker however i would recommend getting first hand practical experience for at least 6/12 mths. I would also write to these large organisations before you finish and let them know your available, the child care areana is crying out for well qualified and committed staff. Visit as many as possible before you decide and discuss with them the longer term prospects for both yourself and the company.
Hope this helps - Nixster

I do have 4 months experience as a children's party guide and i did a weeks work experience at a nursery school. I just didn't feel that these were reasonable areas of experience.
Thanx for you help, i will be arranging a chat with my uni careers advisor, hopefully they can point me in the direction of some organisations.

Its great that you are studying for your degree. Could you not do some volounteer work in Early Years settings alongside your study? Actually being with the children makes your learning more meaningfu, as well as consolidating your knowledge.
Good luck for the future.
