thanks everyone for your comments on my original enquiry ... the point concerning NVQ's is very interesting and one I shall definately be following up for my research ..
I have recently had a new member of the team starting an NVQ 2 - although I feel she should go straight to 3 .. I am surprised that there are no lessons or lectures at all .. how is she supposed to pick up new knowledge .. is it all just about showing/providing eveidence of what you know now ... where is the training in that ... one argument is she can attend EYDCP courses ... and learning by self evaluation and professional development by identying what your needs are and then asking/reading up to fill in your gaps .. I personally feel so much more is gained by attending regular lessons not only from the lectures but also by discussion with the others in the group ...
