Train to Gain or FE Funded NVQ route?

Can anyone tell me what they think the best route is.  I am about to start my NVQ 3 at a local college and have been offered Train to Gain funding, which means my course is paid for, but I do not get a bursary from them and there are no training workshops to attend.  They have said that as the setting I work for only has 30 people I can get funding for staff to replace me when I need to be outside of ratios etc.,

On the other hand I can access a bursary from Early years and they have also said that I may get £500.00 towards my books and I can attend workshops every other week to support my knowledge and understanding of the units in hand.

Could anyone let me know their experience of either route, would my NVQ path be easier in one as opposed to the other.

Millie I have been involved in training so can help you from my view of things. If you are doing a funded T2G then as part of that funding it has got to be shown you have had a minimum of 20 ish hours training, this could include an induction and one-one coaching if it is not feasiable for you to get to a lesson. The normal NVQ route is good if you enjoy training sessions and to be honset these can be useful in helping you see a bigger a picture of thing, through discussions which take place in the calss. They also help if you want to talk through with ohters about your NVQ and how you are doing. The question you need to ask yourself is, do you feel you already have a good level of knowledge or do you recognise their are areas where you might like some extra information. Any sessions planned by a tutor will be geared around the NVQ standards so this is what you will be taught.
