Hi all, I have heard rumours that by a certain year (cant remember which one) that all nursery managerial staff will have to have or be working towards NVQ4.
Anyone know if this is the case?

they said last year that each setting should have a level 4 member of staff to be known as the senior practicioner.
i have nearly completed a level 4 in managing childcare services - very easy for all existing managers to do.

Hi, I know it has been rumoured for a few years but I have it on good authority that in the next 4 years the goal posts will move again and all Managers in Early Years settings (not sure if its just day care) will have to have a degree. There is an article relating to degree holders in early years settings in last weeks Nursery World. Interesting, but who will pay??????!!!!!!

Contact your local authority. They should be issuing guidance very soon about the Transfornation Fund, that will be giving money to settings to allow you to train managers up to degree level. They know how much money it will be, and are in the process of working out how to allocate it.
