I'm not happy with it. When my children were small I had a choice of where they went and what they were taught, how they were catered for etc. With the EYFS being statatory parents choice has gone, schools such as Steiner and Montessori will be in conflic with the EYFS and I know from experience that some settings will use tick lists rather than informed observations. A good idea badly planned in my opinion. I have signed the petition in hope rather than expectation that anything will change. Men in suits appear to know better than us at the chalk face it would seem.

I'm currently doing the EYFS pilot, and the curriculum is fantastic, especially for the 0-3s who were originally sumed up into 4 catagories.
We do daily observations on each child, which can sometimes take a lot of time up, but as a parent it will give a clear understanding and insight into the child's learning and development! The overall documentation looks fantastic!!
I disagree with the ticklist, how can you base a overview on a ticklist?!
My only bug about this, is that whilst i'm completing 12 fully detailed observations a day for each child, when the children go to school, they push the assesments to one side and perform their own assesments.

i havent had the chance to look thourougly at the eyfs pack yet but fro what i have seen it looks very confusing and theres going to be alot more work for us if we dont have enough to do already i think that it will be good that all children will be working towards the same curriculum as having birth to three matters and foundation stage can be confusing i find the age bands confusing the overlap is ridiculous and we know that each child does not develop a the same rate i understnad that but the bands are just stupid i hope that once ive looked at it properly i will understand but at the moment all i see is a lot of change and confusion for everyone in the months ahead i suppose theyve got the best interests for the children at heart and thats whats most important tho isnt it

The reason why the age band is overlapped is to express that you can see children develop differently, and every child is different, I have some children at 36 mths that are on target for the 33mth age goals, its a lot more flexiable.
Depending on your company, the paper work may be extensive, but the product is amazing. We were all a little confused to start, but after having workshops, we are all happy to use it.
