After school club in a private nursery

Hi there!

I am currently working in a private day nursery, which offers wrap around care to children who attend the adjoining primary school. The school children have been separated from the preschool childen as numerous problems arose which affected the care of the preschool children. The school children are now in a separate room which is run by myself as an out of school and holiday club.I was wondering if anybody else has had similar experiences of working with older children in a private nursery and how issues such as bahaviour are handled.

We have an out of school club at our nursery, in its own separate room. We take children up to 11 years old and the staff members in the club work with the children to devise their own codes of behaviour. Most of the staff have playwork qualifications rather than childcare ones and have attended various short courses aimed at behaviour management with older chidren - perhaps there's something similar available in your area?
