Hi again jcab
there are many colleges that offer this as a part time course either for one day a week or in the evenings. I also understand that you can get funding for the course depending on age and income. The course will also allow you £500 to go towards your nursery finding cover for you should you do the one day a week course. What area do you live in ?

Hi jcab

I have to say my geography is not as good as my Nursery Nursing, I have only ever driven through Doncaster on My way to Durham !! However the Foundation Degree is done part time at Harrogate, Bolton, Hull, York Faculty of services to people and Bradford College Dept of Applied Human Studies all sort of Yorkshire/Leeds way I think. It takes about 3 years part time and you need 2 years experience in a day care setting and a L3 qualification in Early Years. I don't know if these are close enough, I failed my geography GCE, you can probably tell. But do go on the internet and have a look, alot have already started but some start in Feb 06. You can also study through the Open University distance learning from home. I think this costs about £600 per year but I would not swear to it. Hope this helps keep looking. Good luck

Hi Joshuajones,

I did the foundation degree through the university of teeside but actually had lectures at darlington college. I live in north yorkshire. A very good worthwhile course to do. Now working on the BA (hons) Early Childhood studies at teeside.

Hey Claire!!

Dfes (Department for Education and Skills) can give you free publications regarding "Birth to three Matters" and The Foundation Stage.

IF you type Dfes in to any search engine - will come up with it and just email asking for the above publications with your address.

Will be sent out for free!! (Although currently "Birth to three matters" is out of stock, lol, and they will send out when get some more in!).

Also strongly recommend a publication called "What to do if your worried a child is being abused". (Which you can also request in the email for FREE!)

Antony.
