Hi i'm in my final year of an Early Childhood Studies degree and am wanting to get some work experience in a school or nursery but don't know how to go about it. Thought about just ringing schools up but don't want to be a nuisance, can anyone working in schools give me some advice on how students can get work experience?

we are willing to accept placements, but prefer people to make an application in writing- with CV and covering letter.

Why?
because we can then review it and give it 100% attention before replying rather than being caught up on other tasks whilst answering the phone- a written application also hints at your commitment and motivation

Hi calvin
Thankyou for your reply i will definately try contacting my local schools in that way. One more question though it might sound stupid but on the CV do i just put any experience working with chidren that i have or include other work i've done as well ie. catering and work as a shop assistant? Thankyou

Emphasise the work you have done with children - ie include more details, but also mention any other work you have done.

This shows motivation and also avoids any unexpalined gaps which could deter people from interviewing you (they may think you sat around and did nothing for 4 months when actually you were travelling the world/doing a job you hate but that you took to pay your bills etc)
