i would soon kick up a fuss and tell them where to stick their job, u and the other staff can do a lot better than that.

thanks girlpower your email did make me laugh. Honestly its not all bad. The wages are about the same in all nurseries in our area. We carry on working there because the staff are great and get on well and we have a lovely bunch of children. The management keeping all the presents is annoying and we kick up a stink but nothing changes. I've spoken to staff from different nurseries and believe me there is worse than ours!!

It is actually illegal not to pay for meetings or at least to offer time off at another time.

I think it depends on what is written in your contract if you are paid for staff meetings.
