Hi I have been working as a Community Nursery Nurse now for 16 months.

We have an allocation meeting every Tuesday when all work is handed out,I have a referral sheet which the HV's fill in,they use this to outline what the concerns are with children and their families, with a evaluation and review date.

Nursery Nurse post are quite new within the NHS and I think the teams have to be supportive and be prepared to look at things with a view to changing things where needed.A lot of teams i know are very set in their ways and are reluctant to change.

My advice is read through the Health Visiting Standards where this will identify what you can do,be careful not to take on anything which is not in your remit.

When working with families you have to have a clear review date involve them in this.I know for sure my families would have me move in with them given half a chance. But be very clear from the outset "this is what i am going to do,this is what you are going to do"with a feedback at the start of each session.

Hope this helps,if you want to talk more and discuss further to swap ideas give me your e-mail address and i will contact you.
