Day centre or Nursery?

by: Keisha - 15-04-08 17:30

Hi

i would like to open up my own nursery... but im not sure if i should start of with a day centre or a creche and then maybe change over once i can afford to and got enough publicity.

isit as easy to just change over from a creche to a nursery??

i would appreciate it if some one could help me out and tell me what would be the best start for me, and what people whould recommend...

thanks

Just remember that if you open a creche your customers will be those wanting a creche not a nursery. If you change to a nursery your customers could leave and find a creche else where. It would be unwise to think they will stay. You would be effectively shutting down a business and opening a new business.

Hi

i have actually decided to open up a private nursery, within this business park. There are many businesses around the area and the nearest nursery is around 7-10miles away.

Ive got everything planned and sorted but now i just don't know where to start. Do i buy the property first, and then get started, or do an advertisement..? im financially supported so money shouldn't be a big issue.its just where do i start thats getting me confused!

Hi Keisha

You probably have this in hand, but do make sure that you will have enough clients in the area you are opening in.  Have you undertaken a survey of clientel, made contact with prospective clients, contacted business in the area etc., to establish a level of interest and number of children able to access the site you are in.  Are you going to go down the Private route or funded?

You may also like to contact your local bank to see how they can support you.

Good luck

Hi Millie....

I would like to go down the private route.

And about the surrvey, i have got it in mind but was going to finish of my final year of education before i do that.. only a few more months left to go....

Although there is one thing that keeps questioning my mind, i have been told that the nursery market is going down hill as government are closing down nurserys??
