Students at work

Hey, was wondering if any1 can give me some advice on students in the setting. We have a student, already got her level 2 and is in training to do her level 3 and comes to us to do her placement. I always thought students are to be supervised at all times but can be use in the ratio if they are full time. But she is policed cleared and qualifyed my boss whats to use her as a member of staff. Ive heard she may not be covered by insurance unless on payrol.
Any advice on this would be great as none of us seem to know.

Hi Standard 2.5 quotes "trainees under 17 years of age are supervised at all times and are not counted in staffing ratios; where the registered person is satisfied that trainees of 17 years or over are competent and responsible, they may be included in the staffing ratios"

you need to ask the college or training provider what their ruling is
we had a student and i was willing to pay her but the college said no as she was under their charge and if there was an accident who is liable???
