As a county council that holds the funding for training we have set level 3 as out minimum level we will fund from sept 08. All new staff to the sector will be asked to undertake Induction modules before they can start a level 3 (the induction modules will replace our core knowledge training). We will also be asking to proof of GCSE english & maths or equivilant before we will give a grant for qualifications. All this ties in with the goverment aim for a graduate in full day care settings but this won't be the same in other counties.
Young new staff will still be able to access level 2's but this would be through apprenticeship's or train to gain.
