I work for an agency at the moment. The places I like to go to have friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, somewhere the children are put first rather than routines, natural daylight, cushions on floor, table cloths, group dinners rather than in the rooms, cooks who know their place and dont make the staff work to their timetable instead of the childrens. A place where childrens work is appriciated, where I can get more or different equipment out without feeling like I'm upsetting the room. A place where the children are listened to and where the parents are valued. Somwhere where the displays on the walls are child driven and not cut out shapes of butterflies with a note to say 'we've been painting butterflies', the staff might have been, but the children will just have been painting! A place where all the staff use the same rules regarding behaviour and sanctions in the same way to all children.
I could go on but thats probably enough for now!!
