i think the introduction of the eyfs will imporve practice in early years settings, or at least it iwll if it is interpreted correctly. the eyfs is not just about planning activities and obsevring. setttings have to commit to four underlying principles and commitments which their entire practice should reflect, so for example they should adapt a keyperson system, value diversity andgive access to outdor space among other things, if all settings adpat their practice to this then childen can only benefit from the EYFs.
disadvantages could include that it is very much open to interpretation. many think it will invlove, as others have said, ticklists, or because of the compulsory nature of the framework that we are "forcing" too much on our children too young, setting too many targets for them to meet.
