I spent 3 months reading and re-reading it to get my head round it. Then i decided what i wanted the children to get out of the room and the time they spent in it and with me. I tried to provide a baby room where the children had opportunities to learn through experiences i provided. We did a planner ehich was for 2 weeks and divided it into the 4 sections. We then wrote in activities for each section including lots of sensory opportunities, times to be sociable with other babies, older children and the key worker, time for each child to have one to one without excluding others and every day things like feeding selves etc. This worked well and took the pressure off us getting the babies to do things to match the theme all the time and make things that look like something. The children seemed to learn better this way and at their own pace. We also did our own assessment based on birth to three and each child had a record book that we wrote down observations long and short, that transfered to the assessment so the planning, observation and assessment all linked together.lot of info but hope this is helpful.
