If you are a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance they can help. It is possible for the staff to take over, but the 'old' playgroup must be sold off first. They can sell to the staff, but it has to be done right because the accounts will have to go to the charity commission.
Even if you arent a member they might be able to give you some advice, but be aware they can sometimes push for you to remain a committee run setting rather than change.
