i work in a private day nursery and i am head of the pre-school section. i work 40hrs a week paid and around 5 hours extra in which my hours go into 'loo time'. loo Time is issued out by the manager as and when they have availability, you can not request to take any. i find this very unfair as i am being flexabile enough to work extra for them but all that time and effort is simply dished back to me in 15 minutes here and there when they decided to say 'go home 15 mins early out of loo time.'
I have over 50 children on my pre-school roll and i am in charge of all planning, observing, room set up, cleaning and anything else you can think of. i have to carry out all cleaning duties myself as management do not employ a cleaner and i am told to 'find time within session hours or stay back and do it unpaid.'
i attend countless out of hours staff meetings, management meetings, training, parents evenings, open days etc and this is all unpaid.
I get 1/2 hour un paid lunch and no breaks on a usual 7.30 till 5.30/6.00 ish shift.
I do all paper work etc in my own home time as finding time to carry it out with the children present is difficult.
I am a general dogs body, cleaner, cirriculum planner, team leader, foundation stage manager, senco, behaviour management manager, in charge of 5 staff (in my unit) and 17 other staff within the building when i am constantly left in charge, cook and fundraiser cheif and to top this all off- I earn 5.80 per hour.
all i can say is, i must really love the children i work with!!!
any one else feel like a bit of muggins sometimes??
