Hi Nutty Nurse,
I spoke to the HSE on Thursday with some concerns. The advice was that you should put your concerns in writing to the manager/owner in the first instance. If this fails you should contact the H&S officer at your local authority. If this also fails then you contact your local HSE. This all sounds very long winded and it sounds like something should be done quickly.
I know someone who did contact the HSE and they informed the nursery they were going to do an inspection !! So of course the management fixed everything before they came, and then within weeks of course everything went back to how it was before. The HSE website is very informative though and has a confidentional phone number for people to ring for advice. Please be careful how you do things though as I was ultimatley sacked for my constant complaints about H&S. Of course they didn't give this reason they instead accused me of mishandling a child!
