I have just completed my degree and have tried for a number of jobs, after interviews I am told I just don't have enough experience, even though I have been working with children for many years now and completed my degree on a part time basis and worked with children whilst completing the degree. Sometimes I just don't think these settings actually want any staff with a degree in their settings. Yes, someone with a NVQ etc may have had a couple of more years hands on experince than me but I have a degree which means I have a lot more knowledge on child protection , child development etc. (Although I know this is not always true!!) It just annoys me when I have spent a lot of blood, sweat and tears getting my degree and I can't get into a job which I really am passionate about compared to some people who get jobs and have only done a childcare qualification as they see it as the easy way out. (Yes some people do think this is the easy way out!!)
